Dr. James Appel

James Eric Appel, MD received a BA in Theology from Southern Adventist University and a Doctor of Medicine from Loma Linda University. He did his specialty training at the Ventura County Medical Center, the top FP training program in the USA. He spent 15 years in the Republic of Tchad where he worked at four different hospitals and was the founder of two of them. He received extra specialty training in the surgical management of long bone fractures from SIGN Fracture Care International and deformity correction from the Baltimore Limb Deformity Course. He came to Liberia first in 2014 during the Ebola crisis and moved to Robertsport permanently in 2019 with his wife Sarah and three children: Miriam, Noah and Isak. He currently works at the St. Timothy Government Hospital in Grand Cape Mount County where he provides free healthcare for people in Liberia.
